Longbottom Census Details 1841-1911
The starting point is grandfather William Longbottom in 1901, with known uncles Willie, Arthur and Lightfoot. There was another William Longbottom in Thornton, shown as a year younger. So, the initial trace back to 1841 was via the elder William to his father Joshua and grandfather Joseph. In order to follow grandmother Susy Longbottom’s ancestry, William’s wedding registration date was searched for, found and the marriage certificate obtained. This also showed that William’s father was John Longbottom. This, again, traces back to Joseph.
All typewritten details are in
Longbottom Text Records.
The later 1911 Census includes father Bertie.
Misspelled names include Songbottom for Longbottom, Lightfood and Elizabeth for Lightfoot and Lucy for Susy
(See
handwritten samples). The 1851 Census at Hill Top also included Elizabeth Wood, age 76, mother-in-law. It appears that she is likely to be the mother of new wife Grace.
1891 Susy Longbottom’s ancestry can be found via father’s name James Foster and 1861 Mary Longbottom via father’s name William West.
Using
FamilySearch for marriage of Joseph Longbottom indicated spouse Sarah Ibbetson and date 4 April 1831.
