Kellett Census Details 1841-1911
The starting point is grandfather Solomon Kellett, with known uncles Harry and Norman and aunt Doris. In order to follow grandmother Mary Kellett’s ancestry, Solomon’s wedding registration date was searched for, found and the marriage certificate obtained. This also confirmed that James Kellett (Engine Tenter - Deceased) was Solomon’s father. Then James’s certificate indicated that his father was Michael Kellett (Mason). It was known that these Kelletts originated in Ireland and changed their name from Kelly. The early Census records confirmed that James and Michael were listed as Kelly.
All typewritten details are in
Kellett Text Records.

For the later 1911 Census, mother Elsie, grandparents Solomon and Mary Jane and their other children were living in the USA.
The 1891 entry of Helen Holmes as mother to Annie is also confusing. The marriage certificate showed her as Annie (Anina) Sharp. Further digging showed that Hellen (Ellen) had remarried to a Holmes.
1881 Annie Kellett’s ancestry can be found via father’s name Solomon Sharp and 1901 Mary Jane Kellett’s via Squire Barraclough.
